Special Needs
Report
Our practice values each individual, and we recognize that children and adults with special health care needs require a dental practice that is open and understanding. Individuals with special needs often experience a higher risk of oral diseases which can affect their quality of life and long-term health.
Office Tour
Report
Many people do not anticipate visiting the dentist, but we at Anderson Pediatric Dentistry strive to change that thinking pattern. By creating a fun and exciting dental office design, this makes the space feel comfortable and welcoming for all our patients (and parents too). Suddenly it feels a lot less scary to everyone.
First Visit
Report
Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
Dental FAQ
Report
For more information concerning pediatric dentistry, please visit the website for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. A pediatric dentist has an additional two to three years of specialized training after dental school and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through their teenage years and, also dedicated to adults having special needs.
Sedation
Report
Some children are given nitrous oxide/oxygen - or what you may know as laughing gas - to relax them for their dental treatment. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is given through a small breathing mask which is placed over the child's nose, allowing them to relax without putting them to sleep.
