While I am a relatively new customer at Convoy Auto Repair my recurring experiences over the past year have been nothing short of easy and pleasurable with Convoy Auto Repair when compared to my previous experiences at other shops in San Diego. I read some of the less favorable reviews before bringing my car in for the first time which expressed concern about their pricing, but I serviced my shocks and a few other standard larger expenses for general vehicle maintenance and found their pricing to be well within standard industry margins for a reputable shop. I went in to fix my brakes a few days ago. These guys were truly professional and did a fantastic job!
I went back in a few days later because I had a humming noise coming from my tires that I had changed a few days earlier. They offered to take a look at it for me and didn’t charge me anything.
If you are ever in need of general car repair I highly recommend them! You will certainly get good quality work and professional service and you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it.

11/15-21 The staff were super nice, unfortunately for me, the cost is 1/2 of what I paid for the car ($2000.00- older car 2002 RAV4) for battery, alternator, valve cover gasket, oil change done and transmission filter, 😳 I asked if they could throw in the next diagnostic check that was $120.00. They didn’t want to do that. Won’t pass smog still.
11/16/21. Ok, today car stopped in an intersection. ( was not really going to go back to that shop ). Had to have the car towed - Felt like I had no choice since they had done the work to bring it back there.

As a young woman, finding a mechanic that doesn't ignore me, talk down to me, or try to scam me is a challenge. I immediately felt comfortable when I walked into here and was greeted with a smile. Everything wrong with my car I received photos and a phone call telling me the details, and what they recommended. I couldn't have me more satisfied and hopefully this can stay my permanent place.

Suggested so many things need to be replaced simply because they were old even though they’re still working fine and are not critical components. They wanted to replace an entire power steering system because there was a leak. I took it to another mechanic that actually looked to see which of the four parts was leaking (a hose) and is going to replace that part only. Definitely got the shady sales pitch from convoy

Another place diagnosed a problem with my truck that they couldnt repair. They recommended Convoy Auto.
Two speed sensors. Convoy told me the charge would be $580. I ended up doing the work myself in less than 30 minutes. My cost was $60.
In addition they tried to tell me my differential fluid was dirty and needed changing. Over $200. Even the owners manual says you never need to look at the fluid unless there's a leak.
Final straw was that they told me that my engine oil was dirty and needed replacement. Thing is, I just had the oil changed less than 300 miles before. I looked at it myself

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you find a different mechanic to inspect your vehicle as Convoy Auto cannot be trusted and will rip you off. They're overpriced even for repairs that DO need to be done.

Not sure how i feel about the service. Tried to charge me a little over $200 for a cabin air filter and engine air filter. Which can be done for $25 in parts, 20 minutes with no tools. Other than that everyone was nice and the service was really fast.
Id like to tell others to avoid this place due to outrageous filter pricing but my google searches tell me every auto repair place does this. So not sure what i recommend

Not exactly a dealership "alternative"
First things first, I have been to this shop before and had a great experience previously. The mechanical work is 100% up to par and they do things the right way when performed. This time around vehicle was serviced correctly with the right parts, the only qualm that I have is the cost.
I have owned 50+ vehicles now and been to many shops, and would have no problem coming back to this shop if the prices were correctly attributed to the parts installed. I was charged approximately a 35% markup on parts and probably a little bit more labor than

2 years ago we had our engine replaced in our pickup truck by this company because ithe shop was suggested by AAA. Not even a year after getting our new engine there were problems. Unfortunately we had moved and could not take it back to the original shop but we were able to have the fixes done at a NAPA where we lived and under warranty. We were told that the parts that needed to be replaced were after market and that's why they failed. Fast forward another year and the same parts were failing again. Sad to post a poor review during times of covid when businesses may be having a hard time but I was frustrated with the service provided. I dropped off my car for an oil change (60$) and came back 2 hours later to pick it up. Got in my car and saw that the glove compartment was not put back properly and instead left on the floor. My moms friend later came in from out of town and discovered that the air filter they took out was not placed back properly as well and they forgot to give back a piece securing the glove compartment. Went to go get my brakes checked out and they told me that it would cost me around $1,600 to replace my breaks along with a few other things. I told them I had a budget and instead of trying to figure out what could be done within that budget, they told me that I should just stop driving my car until I had the money to fix it. Funny, but there was NEVER a discussion of it costing 1500.00 in labor #1. And #2 it did bot take no 12 hrs in labor because I was never informed until the privous day before u closed about replacing the water pump. And my van was picked up at approximately 3:30 in which I was called by Sean about an hour before that to come get it because it was done. #3 We specifically called prior to the van getting repaired for there to be an oil change done on it and the breaks checked. They were friendly but I don't appreciate them not telling me about a test drive and then doing a pull in my car prior to alignment. Made me worry how they drove the rest of the "test drive". This showed lack of respect of others cars and that would most likely have reflected on the quality of work. I had to leave.

I'm gonna be straight up. I'm a female who doesn't know a lot about cars, so I'm very positive they took advantage of that fact. My car had no running lights and one of the brake lights was out. Well, to fix the brake light I had to replace the whole thing which would have been about $300 then they told me I needed to get an electric diagnostic for $120 to figure out what was wrong with the running lights. After I heard it was gonna be that much I thought well I better get a second opinion, so I went somewhere else and they fixed my car for only $100 and found out what was wrong

Could not be happier with the price and the customer service. The quality of care and expertise from the service department make Convoy Auto Repair a rare find. The quote for work from other repair shops and the dealership were significantly more. Convoy was very transparent and gave me all the options prior to work starting. This place is terrible they charged me 1000.00 to replace an oil cooler. The service guy told me the gasket on the oil cooler was leaking. So they replaced the whole oil cooler and charged me 1000.00. And didnt show me the part afterwards Why ? According to state law they have to show you old part being replaced. It didn't need to be replaced. And now since it was replaced it lost gas mileage. They also tried to charge me 300 to replace the spark plugs. Not happy at all. Minus 2 stars.The guy played me, so I filed a complaint with the state bar of automotive repair.

I had 9:00am appointment just for an oil change. After I waited for 3.5 hours in Starbucks near by, I called for the status. The man said that he would call for "what my car needs" shortly, but never called. I called back in a half hour because I had to go home urgently.. But another man (David) said all of them went to lunch so he was not able to get my car out, so that I had to wait for workers to come back. Obviously my car has not been even started after 4 hours so I took back without an oil change. The management is passive aggressive. I think they screen you at the beginning
