Suzuki Teacher Training
Report
At Gifted Music School, we believe that ongoing teacher training is an essential component of being a great teacher. Deborah Moench, a founding board member of Gifted Music School and renowned Suzuki violin pedagogue, believes that continual improvement is a basic quality of a teacher. Being an effective teacher is a process of learning, adjusting, practicing, and adapting.
Suzuki Program
Report
Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's philosophy was that music education from a young age can create a beautiful heart within a child, and that a child with a beautiful heart can be a force for good in the world around him. The Gifted Music School Preparatory Division is proud to have a Suzuki program that is sanctioned by the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
Project GRIT for Public Schools
Report
Project GRIT is one of the most important parts of Gifted Music School. This full-scholarship division brings Gifted Music School instruction to the most at-risk children. Consistent musical training provides a pathway to success, and we believe it should be accessible to all.

Working with the Salt Lake County Board of Education and the Salt Lake School District, we partnered with Mountain View Elementary to bring high-quality music instruction directly into their Title 1 school. All kindergarten students receive a structured one-hour music class once a week during school hours, Monday-Thursday.
