Conditions
Report
Osteochondritis dissecans of the ankle tend to have a low level of chronic persistent pain or swelling that is often intermittent with a history of locking, catching or multiple ankle sprains. Ankle arthritis is a clinical condition of the joint that connects the foot to the ankle joint (tibiotalar) that has damaged or worn out cartilage.
Achilles Rupture / Tendinitis
Report
Some patients may benefit from surgery to repair a fully ruptured Achilles tendon. The goal of the surgery is to stitch the tendon back together. However, in some cases, the damaged part (or the entire tendon) may need to be removed and replaced with tissues taken from another area of your foot. For other patients, it may be best to avoid surgery.
Ankle Arthritis
Report
When you are experiencing pain in the ankle, it is often from a type of arthritis affecting this joint known as ankle osteoarthritis. This condition can cause loss of your joint's cartilage, which in turn causes pain and swelling. When cartilage is lost or damaged, it not only causes pain in the ankle, but it may even lead to a deformity.
