How do I know if a spot needs to be checked? If you are worried about it, have it checked. If something on your skin has changed in appearance, size, color, shape, gets tender, has an irregular border, is increasing in size or frequently itches, you should have it evaluated. I had a melanoma skin cancer removed three years ago.
