Harbor Hardware, established in 1964 by Arnold Shensky, Robert's father, at the same location, saw a constantly increasing demand for bike rentals, parts, repairs, accessories, and beach items. These products and services were gradually added to the hardware store. When his father decided to retire in 1977, Robert began selling off all of the less-in-demand hardware merchandise, thus marking the transition from Harbor Hardware into Harbor Bike.
