Major depressive disorder (MDD), also known simply as depression, is a mental disorder characterized by at least two weeks of low mood that is present across most situations.

Sathpathy completed his residency in Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry at Brookdale University Medical Center in New York. He completed his visiting fellowship at Columbia University in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). He has been in private practice for more than a decade, focusing on treating children and adolescents all the way through adulthood and geriatric ages.
