About Bay Cities
Report
Under new ownership in 2013, Bay Cities Driving School has trained thousands of Bay Area teens and adults to become safe, independent drivers since 1982. We are committed to providing quality driving instruction for any student. Our defensive driving training enables our students to develop the skills needed to safely drive on both streets and highways and to handle the many driving situations they will encounter on the road.
Driver Education
Report
Our Driver Education course meets the DMV requirement for teenagers between the ages of 15 1/2 to 17 1/2 as the first step in the license application process. Once you receive your Completion Certificate, you can apply for your DMV Provisional Driver Permit (or "Learner's Permit"). Our California DMV-approved online driver education course is only $49 and includes a $20 discount on our 6-hour Behind the Wheel Training package.
Behind the Wheel Training
Report
Whether you're a new teen driver or an adult needing a refresher, we have a behind the wheel training program for you! Our lessons are always private, one-to-one sessions taught by DMV-licensed instructors in our dual-control equipped cars. We pick up and drop off at your location and teach seven days a week.
New Teen Drivers
Report
If you are under 18 years old, there are four main steps to getting your driver license. These must be done in order and the earliest you can apply for a permit (Step 2) is at age 15 1/2. If you are over 17 1/2, you aren't required to take the Driver Education Course or Behind the Wheel Training but you can't take your drive test until you are 18.
Parents/Guardians FAQ
Report
The DMV only requires a minimum of 6 hours of professional behind the wheel training but many families elect to take a few more sessions with us, especially when the driving test is coming up or if there has been a long gap in the amount of behind the wheel practice. If you feel your teen will need additional lessons, we recommend the 10-hour Behind the Wheel Package which gives your student two additional 2-hour training sessions.
