In the early days of mixed martial arts, a decline of BJJ winners occurred as practitioners lost to aggressive techniques. Eddie Bravo attributed these loses to training in a uniform not worn in the octagon. To test his belief, Eddie entered the 2003 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Trials. He caused an upset when he won against Gustavo Dantes.

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu is a no-gi art that takes the science and the concepts of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and evolves them to address modern needs. 10th Planet BJJ is based on clinching rather than yanking and pulling on an opponent's gi, which Founder Eddie Bravo felt was taking the martial art in an unrealistic, tug of war direction.

Mixed Martial Arts training at 10th Planet Beaumont is divided into classes: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Muay Thai. These training tactics are geared to work not only in the octagon, but also in the street when self-defense matters. Our mixed martial arts strategies function without grabbing the gi and allow strikes, throws, and grappling.
Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

10th Planet Beaumont's Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program is for children 8-12 years of age. We have the only no-gi children's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program in Beaumont! That means you won't have to pay for expensive uniforms; simply have your child wear comfortable clothes to class. Since martial arts is an individual activity, each child is an active and valuable participant in the class.
