MotionArts Dance Academy was founded in August 2016 with a mission to provide classical and contemporary dance training rooted in artistic integrity. Our school owner and director, Kristin Iovino, brings over 30 years of experience in dance education, having developed programs for MCCSC's after-school care and other community outreach initiatives. We emphasize technical excellence, artistic expression, and healthy participation, offering structured training for students from age 3 through adulthood. Our facility features two spacious studios with natural lighting and convenient parking, located just two minutes from College Mall. We cater to diverse goals, whether students seek rigorous training or casual weekly classes.Older dancers benefit from supervised hangout spaces and volunteer opportunities to assist with classes. Our curriculum includes performance opportunities through annual productions like Alice in Wonderland and our Youth Performance Company. We maintain strict placement policies to ensure technical progression, with evaluations conducted by a team of instructors. The academy fosters a community where dance is celebrated as an athletic art form rather than a sport. Services
Ballet
Our ballet program offers structured training from beginner to advanced levels, emphasizing proper technique and artistic expression. Students progress through defined levels with instructor permission, learning traditional ballet vocabulary and performance quality. Classes include barre work, center combinations, and performance preparation for students aged 7 and older.
Modern/Contemporary
This program develops body awareness and movement quality through modern and contemporary techniques. Classes incorporate improvisation, dance creation, and musicality training for students aged 7 and older. Progression is tied to ballet level achievement, with four distinct skill tiers available.
Youth Company
Our youth performance companies (Mini-MAD for ages 9-11 and MAD Co. for ages 12-18) offer advanced training and performance opportunities. Members participate in community events and annual theater productions, requiring regular class attendance and mandatory rehearsals throughout the semester.
Creative Movement
Designed for ages 3-5, this introductory class develops studio comfort and basic movement skills through playful, music-based activities. Students learn to follow directions and explore spatial awareness using props and imaginative exercises in a parent-free environment.
Choreography
Choreography classes teach dance composition skills through guided projects led by experienced instructors. Students learn to create original works, develop movement phrases, and understand musical phrasing. Classes require prior warm-up through preceding technique classes.

Kristin Iovino has over 30 years of dance education experience, developing programs for MCCSC after-school care and community outreach initiatives. She established MotionArts Dance Academy in 2016 to provide quality dance training focused on technique and artistry.

What dance styles do you offer?
We offer Ballet, Pointe, Variations, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, and Choreography classes for students ages 3 through adulthood.
How do students advance to higher levels?
Students advance through instructor permission based on technical proficiency, attendance, and meeting minimum requirements during semester evaluations by our teaching staff.
Do you have performance opportunities?
Yes! We present annual theater productions like Alice in Wonderland and offer youth company programs with community performance engagements throughout the semester.
What are the class requirements for company members?
Mini-MAD members need one weekly ballet class plus another style, while MAD Co. requires two ballet and two additional technique classes weekly, plus Saturday rehearsals.

We LOVE Motion Arts! They offer a wide variety of classes for all ages. The environment is warm and friendly. The teachers challenge the students in a positive way. I love watching my kids learn to dance confidently and beautifully here!

We could not be happier with MotionArts. The teachers have been so kind and patient with my kids but have high expectations of them which has helped them tremendously with their confidence in dance and in life!
