Eye Exams
Our comprehensive eye exams evaluate both vision quality and overall eye health through multiple diagnostic tests. We assess visual acuity, eye pressure, and retinal health while checking for common conditions like glaucoma and cataracts. Our pediatric specialists provide age-appropriate evaluations for children, while adults receive age-specific screenings including macular degeneration checks. The exams incorporate digital imaging and advanced diagnostic technology to detect early signs of eye disease.
Glaucoma
As Lake County's leading glaucoma specialists, we offer complete diagnostic testing and treatment options for this optic nerve disease. Our services include selective laser trabeculoplasty, MicroPulse diode laser treatment, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery using the OMNI system. We provide ongoing management of intraocular pressure through medicated eye drops and regular monitoring to prevent vision loss from this progressive condition.
Cataract Surgery
Our board-certified surgeons perform advanced cataract removal procedures using phacoemulsification and laser-assisted technology. We offer premium intraocular lens implants that can reduce dependence on glasses after surgery. The procedures are performed at Advocate Condell Medical Center with personalized pre- and post-operative care, including comprehensive evaluations to determine optimal treatment timing and lens selection.
Diabetic Retinopathy
We specialize in managing diabetes-related eye complications through regular monitoring and timely interventions. Our services include dilated eye exams to detect early vascular changes, laser photocoagulation treatment for advanced cases, and ongoing management of retinal swelling. Patients receive education about blood sugar control's impact on vision and coordinated care with primary care physicians.
Dry Eyes
Our dry eye treatment program addresses both insufficient tear production and poor tear quality. We offer comprehensive evaluation using tear breakup time tests and meibomian gland assessment. Treatment options include prescription eye drops, punctal plugs, and lifestyle modifications. Our specialists also address underlying causes like eyelid dysfunction and environmental factors affecting tear stability.

I've been to this practice twice. Tests were run by the a lovely technician, followed by a brief visit by Dr. Jacobs. He complained that I was supposed to have come back within six months of my last appointment. But no one told me that. He said the office sends out postcards.. Postcards? Who doesn't use e-mail these days? He said the office doesn't have the resources to follow up with patients about appointments by phone? What? Dr. Jacobs didn't look me in the eye (excuse the pun) when he came in. He just sat down in front of a monitor to review data.He then did an additional eye exam. I called

I am a physician and was told by my personal Ophthalmologist that I would require surgery to treat my glaucoma. I did my due diligence to find the finest glaucoma specialist in the Midwest and came up with Dr. Michael Savitt. I proceeded to talk to two very highly regarded Ophthalmologists who agreed that my decision was correct. I recently had my surgery and the team that Dr. Savitt has in place is extremely professional and the experience was better than I could have ever expected. I am now on the mend and would highly recommend Dr. Savitt to anyone who has a need for glaucoma surgery.

I had the misfortune of meeting Dr. Jacob for a eye issue. He was rude and the front desk ladies were much ruder than him. They will not answer their calls and nor will they return your call if you leave them a voice message

I called this office to schedule with Dr. Savitt. I decided not to schedule due to the distance and hours of service. So I did not meet the doctor. But someone in the billing (called billing initially to ask an insurance question) department was very courteous, excellent customer service, she really tried to work out a time and location that would be best for us to see the doctor. She went above and beyond by calling other offices requesting an acute appointment, on our behalf, and getting us a referral for another ophthalmology doctor that had the hours, location and same insurance we needed for
