In 1958, a small group of Wyandotte Chemical employees got together because they thought there had to be a better alternative to banking. Were they ever right! They decided to form a credit union because credit unions are owned by its members and not by shareholders. They decided to name it Wymar from a combination of Wyandotte Chemical and Geismar, Louisiana.
