With approximately 4,000 members, WAFP is the largest medical specialty organization in Washington state. The Academy works to inform and support family physicians, influence policy, promote interest in family medicine, and support high-quality family medicine education programs in our state.

Leadership
Report
A Board of Directors made up of family physicians, students, and residents leads the WAFP. The board has four standing committees - Bylaws, Executive, Finance and Membership. Those committees, in addition to the other committees listed here, offer opportunities for members to be involved in the Academy.

To transform health care delivery to achieve optimal health for everyone in Washington State. To foster the advancement of family medicine in Washington State through support for workforce development, advocacy, leadership development and other special projects. We have a vision for the role of family medicine as the foundation of the health care system and seek to share this vision with others.

Local Chapters

The Washington Academy of Family Physicians has 17 component chapters, each comprised of one or more counties, and two chapters specifically for resident and student members. Local chapters help develop policy; support members; connect medical students, residents and practicing physicians; and strengthen the voice of family medicine through advocacy.
House of Delegates
Report
The Academy is governed by a House of Delegates, which convenes annually in May. Under the terms of its bylaws, WAFP is governed by a House of Delegates representing the Academy's constituent local chapters (determined by county/region), including chapters for family medicine resident and student members.
