We come together as a community to dance the Lindy Hop, a dance born in Harlem, in the spirit of the Savoy Ballroom, the only integrated ballroom in NYC during its too short but powerful life. We honor the black dancers whose footsteps we try to emulate and the black musicians whose music we dance to.
We are dedicated to creating an open welcoming and safe community for every one. And we won't stand for anything less. We believe that dance is the best thing you can do for yourself: physically, emotionally, mentally and socially. Many of our students started dancing as a result of life changes such as marriage, divorce or job loss.

We teach authentic style Lindy Hop born out of the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, NY and danced worldwide. Our foremost teacher was Frankie Manning, featured on Ken Burns' Jazz series and documentaries. Also known as Lindy, East Coast Swing or Jitterbug, Lindy Hop is a fun style of dance immensely popular since the 1930s.
Beginner Swing

We offer three different "Level 1" four-week class series, each focusing on different entry-level moves, footwork and technique, etc. Each Level One series can be taken in any order, but all must be taken at least once to build a solid foundation on which to advance to intermediate.
This beginner series introduces single-step, six-count footwork, leading and following moves in closed and open positions including the arch turn, inside turn, outside turn, belt pass, neck pass and more.This series introduces triple-step six-count footwork, leading and following moves in closed and open positions including the send out, inside turn, free side pass, and more.

Intermediate & Advanced

Those who have completed all three Level 1 four-week class series, confidently execute the moves, and discussed moving up with instructor. Those who have been dancing a while and/or taken private lessons (instructor permission required).
Those who have been social dancing and taking workshops and intermediate level classes for at least a year, are comfortable learning in a challenging and fast-paced environment, and are eager to incorporate more complex moves, combinations, and refinements.Intermediate and Advanced series move at a quicker pace and introduce you to an exciting variety of cool combinations.

Specialty Dance Lessons

These classes are intended to enhance your dance experience and focus on different, fun aspects and styles of classic swing and ballroom dancing. Balboa is a style of swing dancing done to faster tempos involving quick footwork and movements. It is an integral part of a lindy hopper's repertoire and is especially good for fast songs and crowded dance floors.

We were as beginner as you can be, and they led us through every step of the way! We chose our first dance song, and Linda and Chester took it from there. From basic posture and steps, to our big finishing spins and dips, they made it very clear, fun and manageable the whole way through. When the big day came we pulled it all off and impressed and surprised all our friends and family!
