In a state where beautiful golf courses are around every other big Oak Tree. Far Oaks opened in 1998. It was designed by Bob Goalby and stands out from the crowd because of its well manicured Bent Grass greens, Zoysia Fairways and uniqueness of each side. If there's a hole where you need an accurate drive, it's #10, a 423 yard par four that doesn't leave much room for error.

A long dogleg right, Par 5. Keep drive right of fairway bunker, you cannot reach the green in two shots and try to avoid fairway bunker. Third shot is slightly uphill and will play a little longer than normal. The short dogleg left, Par 4. Hit a long iron or fairway wood off the tree over center of bunker at fairway.

In 1968, Bob Goalby, a Belleville, Iliinois native entered the final round of the Masters trailing by one shot. His 66 on the final day was good enough for a one shot victory over Argentina's Roberto De Vicenzo. That tournament is forever remembered for De Vicenzo's error in which he signed for a par on #17, but had actually made a birdie.
