Services
Comprehensive Eye Exams
Our comprehensive eye exams evaluate visual acuity, eye movements, and ocular health using advanced diagnostics like Optos Daytona imaging. We assess focusing ability and eye alignment to ensure comfortable vision. These exams include retinal screenings to detect systemic health issues through ocular indicators.
Contact Lens Examinations
We specialize in contact lens fittings with corneal topography mapping to determine optimal lens curvature and material. Our exams ensure proper fit for comfort and eye health, including specialty lenses for conditions like keratoconus.
Eye Disease Management
We diagnose and manage glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease using OCT imaging and other technologies. Our approach combines early detection with ongoing monitoring to preserve vision and ocular health.
Retinal Imaging
Our Optos Daytona system captures wide-field retinal images without dilation, enabling early detection of retinal detachments and vascular conditions. This non-invasive technology provides detailed views of the macula and optic nerve.
Corneal Topography
Using the Zeiss Atlas system, we map corneal curvature to guide contact lens prescriptions and monitor corneal diseases. This precision technology supports accurate fittings and tracks conditions like astigmatism progression.

Was traveling through Kansas when one of my eyes began to hurt. I stopped to get gas & food in Hays, and thats when I looked in the mirror to find a bloody looking eye. Got a motel room thinking Id rest it for a couple of nights. However, that didnt help - it was still bad. I looked on the internet for ophthalmologists and discovered Family Eye Care. I packed up and was in their parking lot before they opened the next morning. I was delighted they were able to work me straight in after I finished some paperwork. Dr. Mondero and his staff were very courteous & professional. After a thorough

I switched to these guys after almost 8 years at another local eye care clinic. Within minutes of being there I felt that my experience was far more personal and appreciated than it ever felt at the other clinic. They worked great with my schedule, got me into the glasses I wanted, and have always been friendly when Ive needed service or checkups. Check them out!

I am college student here in Hays and am in the health care related field for my major. Before attending any place in Hays for my annual eye check up I called around to see who would accept my insurance. They said they did. I saw them they were pleasant I paid a small chunk at the end not thinking too much about it. Well this next time just recently I went back again for my annual exam. Go to check out and owe them for the whole exam and was told my insurance doesnt cover any of my glasses expense either. Luckily i decided against glasses and paid them since I had already received the services
