New jersey shark fishing

Sharks that are most commonly caught charter fishing in New Jersey waters are Makos, Threshers, Blue shark, Hammerheads, Duskys, Brown sharks, and an occasional Great White. They can be caught from May through October. Mako shark fishing is one of our favorites in New Jersey. The Blue Chip has boated brutes of 541#, #475, 474#, 361#, 341#, 326# and 306#, and we also have some great stories of some that did not get boated.

These fish are not exactly considered "big game" but they are scrappy fighters, capable of shaking their head, pulling out some drag, and putting a big bend on your rod. In New Jersey fishing, sea bass run from pound to 8 pounds and are generally caught on rocky bottom or over wrecks.
