Hap's Cycle Sales was founded by "Hap" AC Poneleit. Originally, Hap was part owner of the Sarasota Motorcycle Company with Ford Pucket. Sarasota Motorcycle Company was later called Pucket's Harley-Davidson when it became a Harley dealer. Hap eventually became the sole owner, and the dealership name was changed again, this time to Hap's Cycle Sales Inc. Hap always ran his company with a focus on customer service and a passion for motorcycling.
After Hap's passing Hap's Cycle Sales was owned and managed by David Bixler (Hap's Son in Law), Alice Bixler (Hap's only daugther), and Robert "Bob" Poneliet. David Bixler started working for his father in law after his honorable discharge from the US Army in 1970. David served in the Veitnam War and became the number salesman for Hap's Cycle Sales for decades.
