The Infinity Room is 218 feet long and has 3264 windows. It is counter balanced by 105 yards of concrete, making it possible for the last 140 feet to extend unsupported above the valley floor. In 1960, Alex Jordan opened his dream house built atop a chimney of rock to the public. Over the years, Alex expanded his vision beyond the House and collected and built on a massive scale.
What began as a lofty retreat with an awe-inspiring view has become a spectacular attraction known as The House on the Rock. We suggest at least 3 hours to enjoy your visit. The closer you arrive to 3:00 pm, the quicker you may need to go through the sections because sections begin closing at 4:00 pm.

Alex Jordan's awesome retreat built atop a chimney of rock opened to the public in 1960. The retreat was only the beginning. Alex used to explain his sprawling creation of collections, displays and galleries by saying that "one thing just sort of led to another." On our self-guided tour you will explore some of the most unique collections including the world's largest carousel, a 200' sea creature, automated music machines and much more.
The Dark Side

If you have ever wondered if the dolls come alive at night or if you find the displays troubling during the day, wait until you see them in the dark. Your nightmares will become real. You will stroll down the walkway of the macabre and see the carousel in a whole new light. You will travel through the Devil's throat and wander through the mysterious maze before escaping to be greeted by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
