Finding a Quality Dojo
Report
You've seen the martial arts in movies, on television, and possibly at a dojo (karate school) in your community. Maybe you know someone who's had some training, or maybe you've had a lesson or two yourself. Having been exposed to the martial arts, you may also have found yourself toying with the idea of trying it out.
Dojo Rules
Report
The following two rules are most important. Violation of either of these rules will result in permanent termination of membership as well as removal of certification for any rank held within our dojo. Students may not teach others what they have learned without the explicit approval and supervision of a member of the dojo teaching hierarchy.
Opening & Closing Ceremonies
Report
The opening ceremony to a traditional karate class is based on courtesy and respect. The specific procedure may vary from dojo to dojo, but the meaning behind it is generally similar. Thus, at RSMA, we would change "Sensei" to "Kyoshi" when Kyoshi Baker is teaching. This would not generally be done for any instructor below the level of Sensei.
