For fourteen years I have taught SAT and ACT prep to small and large groups as well as one-on-one. There is no question that one-on-one achieves the biggest gains in the shortest amount of time, but why? In private tutoring, every question is considered according to the student's needs. The tutor observes what the student sees and doesn't see.

No minimum or up-front fees. Unlike tutoring centers, I do not have minimum session requirements and do not charge up-front fees for private tutoring. You pay per session, as we go. You will be the one to approve the schedule, and you can stop services at any time. For all tutoring sessions held in the home, I request that a parent/legal guardian be present for children under the age of 18.

Decide if your student needs help in one area, such as organization, time management, or writing. Strengthening one area can make the whole picture look better. If a student lacks in one or more basic areas, s/he may begin to feel frustrated and lose confidence; learning, instead of happening naturally, becomes a chore.
