Patients with diabetes and hypertension are strongly encouraged to have a yearly dilated eye examination. Did you know that diabetes is the number one cause of blindness in most adults? Diabetes and hypertension can cause retinopathy-damage to the small blood vessels inside of the eye- and cause permanent vision damage.
