UFM Designs
They took pride in having always supplying quality wood furniture to their friends and neighbors in the South Bay. In 2015, after 37 years in business, they decided to retire, but the need for the heirloom quality wood furniture they'd been selling didn't go away and their phone kept on ringing.

So I decided to pick up the mantle, change the name to UFM Designs and re-imagine a way to shop for quality wood furniture that's more in step with how we shop these days. We've put our showroom online! Everything that my parents had on the floor at their old Lomita store and everything that was available from the manufacturers catalogs, are now accessible though our website.
Services
When it comes to custom designed wood as a medium, if you can imagine it, we can bring it to life. We love being your partners in design. I recently had UFM Designs custom build a piece of furniture, consisting of a base and bridge, to house a new 55 inch TV. I wanted to keep two book cases from my old set up.
This gives you a direct link to some of the all wood furniture pieces you may be looking for from our site and the sites of our Approved Vendors. Once you're there, make sure you look around because all of my suppliers have much more available than what's seen in the Online "Showroom". Just jot down the company name and a model number or size and we'll get back to you with prices or your desired information.

Report
We've been working with Rod's ever since my parents started The Unfinished Furniture business in the late 70's. And one thing about them, is through the years not a lot has changed. Sure, they've updated their styles a couple of times or switched over to full extension glides from nylon glides but the quality that they've always built with has remained a constant.
Whitewood/John Thomas
Report
UFM Made Solid's relationship with Whitewood Furniture started when Ryan's mother, discovered the them sometime in the 1990's. They continue to be our only import company because of their longstanding eco-friendly practices abroad. Whitewood primarily uses solid parawood, better known among experts as "Malaysian Oak." Parawood is special because it has roughly the same hardness rating as Ash wood - the same wood with which baseball bats are made!
Whittier
Report
When Ryan's parents started UFM Made Solid in 1978, Whittier Furniture was their first vendor. Before anyone else really knew anything about the durability and beauty of Alder wood, they were using it for the majority of the pieces they built. Whittier Furniture is still family owned and is an Oregon based company that only uses farm raised and sustainably grown Alder and Pine woods.
