Founded by Atos 3rd degree black belt Jonathan "JT " Torres, Essential Jiu Jitsu and Fitness is a world class training environment.
We offer a 3,000 square foot facility, complete with men's and women's locker rooms, where you can find jiu jitsu training and instruction, solidly grounded in the foundations of the martial art. A welcoming community of like-minded and passionate people, we seek to create an environment where all of our students and employees are dedicated to sharing the art of jiu jitsu.

If you have any questions other than than what you find below, please don't hesitate to contact us. All potential new students residing within the tri-state (NY, NJ, CT) area are eligible to try our free trial. Students may access any classes within their experience level during the trial. Proof of residency is required.

White uniforms are required for all our general classes, other affiliation patches are not permitted. The "Essential Jiu Jitsu" No-Gi uniforms are required for all our general no-gi classes. Essential Jiu Jitsu is located in the charming hamlet of Harstdale, NY (22 miles outside of NYC) in West Chester County.
