While many courses have two or three so-called signature holes that are worthy of brochure status, every hole at Black Lake Golf Club could easily be on the front cover of a magazine promoting the course. The course is owned by the UAW, who selected one of golf's most acclaimed course architects, Rees Jones, to design an environmentally responsible, championship caliber course.
It was a challenge eagerly embraced by Jones, Golf World Magazine's "Architect of the Year" in 1995. The condition of the course is immaculate making your round more enjoyable, the only bad lie on the course comes with an errant shot that enters in the woods or the hazards. Complementing the championship course is The Little Course, a nine-hole par 3 meant to introduce young people to the game as well as sharpen veteran players' short games.

Golf Now refers to Black Lake Golf Club as a destination well worth the trip. It's a quiet, peaceful golf course scattered across 300 acres of dense, hardwood forest and marsh, part of the UAW's 1,000 acres of almost entirely natural property. It plays as well as - if not better than - the many multi-course resorts in Michigan.
