I went into Bangtail to pick up a bike I had ordered online. Upon arrival they were super friendly and more than willing to go above and beyond to explain my new bike to me and also give me some tips that were extremely helpful. Bike rides like a dream after being assembled by the team at Bangtail.

From humble beginnings in a small house near the corner of 7th and Main St in 1979, Bangtail Bikes has become Southwest Montana's premiere bicycle shop. Whether a commuter, recreational rider, or racer, we have the gear to make your cycling experience better than ever. We are often asked where we came up with the name Bangtail.

Group Rides

A long-time Bangtail tradition: This is a recreational road ride that is usually around 15-30 miles depending on the group and weather. This is a recreational ride, not a training ride. All abilities are welcome. If you're interesting in riding with us, meet at the shop a little before 6 in the evening.

E-bikes

Electric Bikes, also known as e-bikes or EMTBs, have grown very quickly in popularity over the past few years. We sell Specialized and Trek Class 1 and 2 e-bikes, these are pedal assist bikes that do not have a throttle. We have the ability to service any e-bike here in our shop. They may not be allowed on trails managed for non-motorized activities.
