Colonel Willard Blackinton was a prominent industrialist and financier in America's early days. The colonel was born in 1800, son of William Blackinton, an early settler of the Attleboro area. In 1850, Blackinton commissioned a home to be built for his two sons and their families. The Greek revival style was a favorite of the time, reflecting the elegance and stately homes constructed in the mid 19th century.
