Our firm began in the 1960s by infusing good design with island culture and creating a true sense of place for our residential and commercial clients. Our founding designer, Mary Philpotts McGrath, drew upon her island home's rich heritage, landscape and spirit. In doing so, she laid down the foundation of our firm.
As the state of Hawaii grew, so did the Philpotts team and its reputation. Since the early 2000s Marion Philpotts-Miller, Lowell Tom, Holly Boling Ruiz and Jonathan Staub have carried the legacy forward, helping expand upon the firm's work to include recent notable projects such as Park Lane Ala Moana, Four Seasons Resort Ko'Olina and an international portfolio of residential clients.

We design hotel interiors that offer guests a break from their everyday, while ensuring every morning that they "know where they are waking up." Our cultural knowledge, sensitivity to landscape, and extensive local resources enable us to make a hotel authentically part of its region; and bring regional character into the hotel.
Residential

We began designing residential interiors in the 1960s - collaborating closely with local artists and craftsmen including the famed Hawaiian residential architect Vladimir Ossipoff - and the discipline remains at the very core of Philpotts today. Whilst our influence is rooted in Hawaii, we draw on cultures right across the world, expertly sourcing and procuring furnishings and dcor according to budget and style.
