There are several possible reasons why a tooth may need to be removed (extracted). For instance a tooth may be deemed unrestoreable due to extensive decay, infection or missing tooth structure. Even a tooth with no decay could be lost due to severe bone loss from Periodontal Disease. Sometimes perfectly good teeth are removed to "make room" during Orthodontic Therapy.

Your first appointment will be spent completing a Comprehensive Examination. This begins with taking all necessary radiographs (x-rays) and photographs of the teeth. Then your health and dental history will be reviewed followed by a detailed examination of your teeth and soft tissues. Finally the treatment planning phase will begin.

Digital radiography allows us to more accurately diagnose dental conditions because of the quality and size of the image. Also the software used allows for adjustments and enhancements to be made to the image with only the click of a mouse. These images will be presented to you on a computer screen so that you can see what we see.
