Philip and Julia Olson created The Art of Finance in 2015 to provide something special: clear, empathetic financial coaching and planning that's actually effective. 2. There are certain foundational truths when it comes to financial wisdom, but we don't come at this work with super hard rules. Each person's relationship to money is unique and we make space to honor that.

We're different than most financial advisory practices out there. That's because we do fee-only planning. We don't push products, sell you insurance policies you don't need, or require you to have a million dollars before we will help you. Instead, we charge a flat fee in exchange for advice. It's pretty simple.

It was a common phrase we heard over and over as we worked with families on their finances. The need for relatable, practical financial literacy seemed to come up with everyone we spoke to. In early 2016, Philip and Julia began collaborating with Katie Graham and Andrew Matthews to develop a pilot for an educational financial series named, Two Cents.
