The post-Katrina public high school situation dictated a different model for SciHigh. There were only four public high schools open after the flood. Previously, there had been 22, all of which had served as feeder schools for Sci High. The demand for a half-day program had been destroyed. Now the founding Advocates had the full responsibility for finances and operations of their successful model.

The New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School is an open-admission public charter school that prepares all students for college admissions and successful careers. Sci High provides a rigorous high school curriculum with an emphasis in science and mathematics in a supportive environment of learning and respect that prepares students to make informed choices about post-secondary pursuits.

Enrollment Guide

The steps to securing a spot for a NEW student at our open-enrollment charter are to apply, enroll and register. Students that wish to return for the next school year should not fill out a OneApp application. Completing a OneApp application could result in the loss of the student's seat at Sci High.
Academic Guidance

Sci High provides a wide array of academic supports, including extra reading and math classes, test prep classes, extended academic days for teacher-led data-driven tutoring and in-school tutoring from Tulane undergraduates for students in all grades.
The Academic Guidance Advisors provide students with information on ACT preparation, scheduling, graduation requirements and pathways, financial aid, as well as college & career guidance, with a dedicated counselor for each grade level.Sci High offers students several Advanced Placement (AP) classes spread out in Computer Science, English, Science, and Social Studies.
