There he gained a strong work ethic and learned the importance of family. When John wasn't working on the farm he would take long bike rides through the beautiful rural Wisconsin countryside. It was in Wisconsin that John gained his love of nature and first encountered the intricate balance of color and texture.

Faux wood graining, or Faux Bois is the artistic imitation of wood. The craft has roots in the Renaissance with Tromp-l'oeil. Today, John Michaels produces "faux wood grain painting" on non-wood surfaces to look like a particular species of wood. JMD can "wood grain" your metal passage door or metal garage door to like Oak, Walnut, Mahogany, Olde World Pine, Bird's Eye Maple or even Cherry.
