Anchors Aweigh Charters, Inc., based in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, FL is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that provides no cost fishing charters to those with permanent physical and/or developmental disabilities as well as those diagnosed with a terminal illness. They believe that the objective of fishing is not always to catch fish, but that being on the water is therapy for the soul.
Captains Steve and Wanda Hair have modified their 36 foot charter boat, Ye Ole Pirate, to include a wheelchair loading ramp, wheelchair stabilizing devices, a large number of extra hand holds and several other patented handicapped devices on the vessel. This provides the highest level of safety and comfort for everyone aboard.

Anchors Aweigh Charters, Inc. has provided no cost fishing trips, nature tours and scenic cruises to the permanantly disabled, handicapped and terminally ill since 1997. Each trip is designed to suit the individual's comfort level and desires. We offer inshore fishing trips, nature tours, or scenic cruises.

How do I apply for a trip with AAC? Just print out the application found here: APPLICATION and fill it out. Fax or mail your completed paperwork to us and we will contact you. All of the qualifying information and instructions can be found on the application. What sort of verification do you need? We do not require that you send any confidential medical information.

Now he is the seasoned and skilled captain of "Ye Ole Pirate", a 36 foot pleasure fishing vessel, birthed in the scenic downtown Fernandina Beach Marina, located on the north end of beautiful Amelia Island, Florida. Captain Steve still loves to share the excitement of the sea with others from around the world.
Veteran’s Program

In 2009, Anchors Aweigh Charters developed it's "Veteran's Program" to fund the increase in permanantly disabled US Veterans. We raised these funds via a charity event called the "Amelia Island Last Leg Rally". The basics were formed from Amelia Island being the "last leg" of a very long ride to Daytona Beach for their famous "Bike Week".
