The Spanish philosopher Ortega y Gasset believed that a generation lasts about eight years. For most of us this is is a good time frame to look at the past, reflect upon our lives and build upon these experiences as we move forward. I am writing this in 2017 and looking at what this generation might bring.
I would propose we are facing a new paradigm in the global aesthetic arena- Correct and Maintain. Our goal is to prevent aging changes with great skincare products, great injectables, and great minimally invasive procedures. When correction is necessary it should be precise, artistic and natural. We then develop a team plan to maintain the benefits throughout the patient's lifetime.

Dr. Larrabee has been most recognized for his surgical skills and innovative techniques. His three surgical books for surgeons have been widely used and are currently going into new and updated editions. Surgical Anatomy of the Face describes the scientific basis for much of his aging face and rhinoplasty surgery.

Humans have the most complex array of facial musculature in all the animal kingdom, and correspondingly the most elaborate and subtle mechanisms for controlling those muscles. Facial expression has evolved as one of our most important social skills, and our ability to both recognize and communicate our feelings through often tiny facial movements is unparalleled, and is of enormous, irreplaceable value in strengthening our social bonds.

Dr. Larrabee believes training the next generation is a core mission of our Center. The obligation to teach those who will care for patients in the future has been recognized since Hippocrates. Dr. Larrabee directs the University of Washington Fellowship in facial plastic surgery.
The fellows have already completed their residency training and work as junior faculty and teachers at Harborview Medical Center, Children's Hospital, the UW Medical Center, the VA Hospital and the Larrabee Center.We have one of the most competitive fellowships in the country and are proud of our graduates who have gone on to great careers in academia, the military, and private practice.
