Cool season lawns should be mowed between 3-3.5 inches, never cutting more than 1/3 of the blade at one time. Lawns require at least 1-1.5 inches of water to moisten a depth of 6 inches of soil, 2 times per week. In periods of excessive heat, more water may be required. Follow a fertilization program with pre-emergent crabgrass control, insect control, lime (soil PH regulation), and turf fertilizer.
