Our mission is to equip drivers with the knowledge, training, and skills necessary to drive with precision and confidence. Our team of driving instructors is DMV-certified and passionate about helping our students learn in a safe and empowering environment.
The majority of our instructors are retired law enforcement officers, which provides them with a wealth of experience to share with their students. Over the last 20 years, we've had the pleasure of teaching people of all ages and backgrounds how to drive safely and responsibly, and we look forward to teaching even more students in the years to come.

Precision Driving School South is licensed, bonded and incorporated in the State of California. Precision Driving School South is the largest driving school in the county. We have been providing driver's training, driver's education, driver's evaluation and adult refresher courses from San Luis Obispo and North Santa Barbara Counties for over 20 years.

If you are looking to purchase lessons one at a time, then this is the perfect option. If you are under 18 and need to complete 6 hours of Behind The Wheel training you may consider purchasing our 6 hour package for a discount. If you have an account with Precision Driving School, your purchase will be reflected there.

We work hard to make sure your driver's training course provides you with the training necessary for you to get your driver's license. Student drivers under the age of 18 are required to have 6 hours of training with a licensed driving instructor before they can take their license exam.
In addition, they are required to have a minimum of 50 hours of supervised driving experience with a licensed California driver 25 or older; at least ten hours at night.The DMV encourages parents and students to keep a log of practice time behind the wheel. Is a student driver who is already 16 or 17 still required to have an instruction permit for six months?

Follow the posted speed limit or drive at a speed that is safe for the conditions; whichever speed is slower. Don't follow other vehicles too closely. Keep a three second following distance between you and other vehicles. Pick a landmark, and when the other car passes it, start counting. Stop counting when you pass the same landmark.

Before you go to the DMV to take your knowledge test, practice taking one (or all) of these sample tests. Read the test questions carefully. Don't read anything extra into the question. There will be one correct answer and the other two answer choices will be either obviously wrong or not appropriate for the question asked.
