Treeline's owner, Jeff Grennan, grew up surfing and fishing in San Diego. He got an early education in native plants from his father, Al Grennan, a local botany professor and an expert in native plants. Jeff spent much of his childhood helping Al collect samples in the San Diego backcountry. Jeff started in the tree business in his 20s, where he learned the finer points of tree care from Michael Ball, a well-known local arborist.
