Flight Instruction
Report
A Discovery Flight, often called an introductory flight, is approximately 30 minutes, intended to familiarize a prospective student with the airplane, the airport, and with the flying environment. During your Discovery Flight, you'll sit in the pilot seat, and the FAA Certified Flight Instructor at your side will allow you to fly for the majority of the flight.
PPL Course Requirements
Report
In the end, a private pilot applicant will need to pass a practical exam that consists of a verbal exam and a flight test. 3 hours of flight training in a single engine airplane within the 60 days prior to the practical test.
Forty hours is the very minimum required, and while some students complete their certificate in 40 or slightly more than 40 hours, the average time to complete a private pilot certificate is closer to 60 hours of flight time. Many assume that it costs a small fortune to get up in the air. It's the most common (and most unnecessary) obstacle that aspiring pilots allow to get in the way of their dreams.

Aircraft Rental
Report
All our aircraft are shown with a "Wet" rate which includes the cost of fuel and oil. If you take a longer trip and purchase fuel, we credit that amount toward your rental cost. Check before your trip for the maximum fuel reimbursement rate. A certificated pilot may rent our aircraft with a checkout flight.
Instructors
Report
Our vision at Black Hound Aviation is to provide professional pilot training with an emphasis on (1) safety and (2) enjoyment. Too often, pilots are trained just to pass a test. At Black Hound, the test standards are just the beginning.
