Have you ever been walking the streets of Manitou Springs, and wonder how 'The Springs' got its name? Long before the Mona Lisa, native tribes who inhabited the area considered mineral water the breath of the Great Spirit "Manitou." In the early 1890s, the town's mineral springs and clean mountain air established the area as a health resort.
