Saltzman has been my primary care doctor for years and she's the only one I'll see! Addiction Specialist and Primary Care Physician located in Midtown Manhattan, New York, NY. Dr. Saltzman realized a calling to medicine during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis in New York City in the mid-eighties.
Prior to entering the field of medicine Dr. Saltzman worked in the music business for record companies and publishers. Moving in the NYC club scene of the nineties, Dr. Saltzman saw many of her friends and colleagues become ill with AIDS. She observed the rampant prejudice and stigma that LGBTQ people and IV drug users suffered, and committed herself to becoming a physician specializing in HIV/AIDS.

Primary Care
Report
At Midtown Health and Wellness, we provide primary care with a focus on individuals that are in recovery or are currently using substances. Long term use of drugs and alcohol can negatively impact one's physical health and ongoing medical conditions need to be addressed by physicians with experience in addiction and recovery.
Opioid Addiction
Report
Stopping the use of opiates is very difficult, if not impossible without medical intervention. At Midtown Health and Wellness, we help users of opiates recover by providing Suboxone treatment, an innovative medication that can provide immediate results and break the cycle of addiction. Users of opiates can transition to Suboxone within 24 hours, itself an opiate, to avoid experiencing a painful withdrawal process.
Travel Medicine
Report
I was excited to see Brazil for the first time, but also anxious about all the potential health risks. Dr. Saltzman helped me understand which vaccinations and medications I needed, how to stay healthy while traveling, avoid illnesses, and what to do if I got sick on my vacation. This made planning so much less stressful and ensured I was prepared for every possibility.
Outpatient Alcohol and Benzo Detox
Report
Without outpatient alcohol detox, I don't know how I would have recovered. I stubbornly refused to take time off work, but I would never have been able to navigate the withdrawals myself. The regular check-ins with the team ensured I stayed on track and remained safe throughout. The use of alcohol and benzodiazepines can lead to the development of physical dependence on these substances.
