Preserving Mexican Folkloric Dance Tradition Since 1975
Founded in 1975, Relampago del Cielo has dedicated over five decades to preserving and promoting traditional Mexican performing arts through music, folklore, and dance. Our mission centers on cultural enrichment, offering educational programs and community outreach initiatives that connect generations to their heritage. We provide accessible folkloric dance classes for all ages and skill levels, fostering pride in Mexican traditions while nurturing artistic growth. Our performances, including annual collaborations with Disney's Viva Navidad! and Coco celebrations, showcase the vibrancy of regional Mexican culture. With a legacy of training professional dancers and educators, we continue to expand our impact through partnerships with schools, cultural events, and international exchanges. Our commitment to authenticity and community has earned recognition from prestigious arts organizations, including the Helena Modjeska Cultural Legacy Award.Through low-cost classes, school programs, and public performances, we ensure cultural accessibility while maintaining artistic excellence. Our intergenerational approach has created a unique family environment where second- and third-generation members carry forward our founding vision. As a 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on community support to sustain our programs and reach wider audiences. Our summer intensive program in Mexico, Mas Alla de Los Pasos, deepens our educational mission while strengthening cultural ties.
