You do not need a physician's referral or prescription to attend physical therapy. In Pennsylvania (and most other states) you can make an appointment with a physical therapist directly, without needing a physician's referral. While your physician may give you a recommendation and your insurance plan may guide you with regard to who is "in network, " the decision as to whom you see for care is up to you.
