The Padgett and King Mortuary on East Main Street has become a Forest City landmark. Since our inception in 1903, we have continually updated and modernized our historic structure to ensure every family and visitor is comfortable and at ease in our home. We offer beautiful staterooms for visitations, as well as, a beautiful chapel for those wishing to have services conducted in our facility.
We also have installed a new on-site Crematory for those families that select cremation. We strive to offer service with dignity and respect and in so doing, if we have helped to lighten the burden of those who call upon us, our aim has been accomplished. The Padgett and King Mortuary was founded in 1903 by T.R. Padgett and his brother-in- law, Grover King on the square of Forest City. The enterprise began operations as a furniture company and later added the services of a funeral home. About a year into the business venture, Mr. King sold his interest to Mr. Padgett and went on to pursue other interests.

We offer a full service funeral home to include preparation, visitation, cremation, chapel services, and interment. Our staff will also update the local and distal newspaper agencies, and contact the appropriate government offices. We also provide pre-arrangement and insurance services for families.

Our staff is comprised of dedicated and licensed professionals with the experience to answer all your questions regarding our services. Please feel free to contact any of our staff members at any time. Currently serving on the NC State Board of Funeral Service and is a Past President of the Board. He is a member of Florence Baptist Church and a firefighter.

Take Interstate 85 South to Kings Mountain and merge onto U.S. Highway 74 West. Highway 74 West will go thru the city of Shelby. Travel U.S. Highway 74 to Exit 182. Exit, turn left (north) onto South Broadway and continue to Highway 74 Business/East Main Street in Forest City (This is a T-Intersection).
