Our passion is helping people with their vision needs in a casual, competent, courteous and non-rushed atmosphere. We believe in modern technology and old fashioned customer service. In addition to assessing your refractive needs, we routinely assess for strabismus, ambloypia, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts among other diseases that affect the eyes and or visual system.

Fortunatley, blindness from disease and trauma, is small compared to the worlds population, but it is very significant if you are the individual with the problem.

Potentially Serious Visual Symptoms
Report
Flashing lights can represent stimulation to the retina or light sensitive layer of the eye. Generally, flashing lights in the form of instantaneous lightening bolts represent that some form of traction has been placed on the retina. These flashes of light are not like the aura of migraine headaches that usually last continually for minutes and change appearance over that time period.
Perscriptions for Special Uses
Report
Commonly, prescriptions are written from the perspective of what type of lens is going to cover the greatest of the patients needs on an everyday basis with just one pair of glasses. However, certain tasks may be made much easier to perform with a special prescription designed for the task. Painting on an easel, tying flies for fishing, playing the piano/organ or use of a computer are just some examples.
Blindness Risk Factors
Report
Age and genetics are factors for which we have no current control over. However, we can influence the risks associated with smoking, obesity, and lack of exercise, excessive drinking of alcohol, inadequate nutrition and sunlight exposure. Smoking increases the oxidative stress and contributes to eye disease progression.
Frequently Asked Questions
Report
This term describes a mismatch among the refractive elements of the eye while accommodation is at rest. This mismatch results in blur as it does not allow a sharp image to fall on the retina or light sensitive layer of the eye. The refractive elements include the corneal curvatures, lenticular curvatures, axial length, respective indexes, thicknesses and retinal curvature.
