The whole Greater New York area including Long Island, Queens, and Staten Island is in the middle of a drug and alcohol addiction epidemic. People of every age, gender, religion, and socioeconomic background are caught in the crossfire of addiction. We've created Long Island Interventions to provide an opportunity for those struggling with substance abuse to find addiction treatment on Long Island and out-of-state.
We believe in drug rehabs on Long Island that are solution-focused and evidence-based and our recovery advocates have decades of combined experience. Many people who develop a substance use disorder find it very difficult to stop using without professional help. If you have decided to seek treatment for yourself or a loved one, you'll need to decide on the type of treatment that's right for you.

Interventions
Report
A drug or alcohol intervention is a process by which the addict/alcoholic is encouraged to seek substance abuse treatment. It is directed professionally by a certified interventionist whose goal is to have the individual admit that he/she has a substance abuse problem and agree to receive help. It's an educational process, usually conducted face-to-face, that involves family members of the addicted individual.
Detox
Report
A drug and alcohol detox involves removing the substance from your body so that you can move on to the next phase of treatment without the buildup of toxins that precipitate withdrawal symptoms. A physical dependence on a substance of choice occurs when an individual has an increased tolerance, and they will experience painful withdrawal symptoms should they stop taking the substance abruptly.

We're talking about alcohol and the psychotic effect that alcohol has on its' abusers. Alcoholism is chronic, progressive, and fatal if left untreated, regardless of your age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status.
Benzo
Report
Benzodiazepines are a family of psychoactive drugs known for their useful purpose in a variety of conditions including anxiety, insomnia, seizures, muscle spasms, and agitation. They are generally safe and effective for short-term use, but addicts abuse benzodiazepines in large doses which can cause euphoria for the user and physical dependence.
