Established in 1882, The Community at Sunset Wood, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, offers seniors 62+ an environment that includes gracious living with options for aging in place. Our campus, located in the Village of New Hartford, is independently owned and has a board of directors that oversees long range goals and opportunities for programs that enhance a high quality of living within our community.
Most recently, we have invested nearly $1 million in upgrades into our community. They feature a fine-dining room, Pub with casual American fare, a sunroom with pool table, a community room with a baby grand piano, luxurious 20 ft granite-top wet bar, mini fridge and microwave for private catered parties and a roof-top patio for relaxing.

Our Independent Senior Living Community is much different than others in the fact that we are able to establish and maintain networking relationships with community-based services that our tenants need in order to help them "Age In Place." Our goal is to have The Community at Sunset Wood your final home which you can relax with the comfort of all the services you need whether it be medically or through companionship.

Yes, there are three qualifications to be a tenant at The Community at Sunset Wood: you must be over the age of 62, able to perform the daily activities of living and obtain renter's insurance. The Community at Sunset Wood does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability or national origin.

The Community at Sunset Wood is the only local independent senior living facility in a village setting. Located above the New Hartford Shopping Center in the heart of New Hartford, our location offers tenants no excuse not to get out for the day. Shopping, grocery stores, restaurants, doctor's offices and churches are all conveniently located in walking distance.
The Genesee Room

Seven nights a week from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm tenants are served a balanced homemade meal featuring a soup, salad, main course and dessert. If you would like to CANCEL or MAKE CHANGES to your meal, you MUST call the kitchen by 2pm. PENTHOUSE residents MUST call DAILY to reserve seat, otherwise your meal will be delivered.
