I love to feel them like you feel the ground on your bare feet. I love to hear the crunch of a forested path on a hike and hear the birds in the morning when the windows are open and the coffee is brewing. I feel coziest outside in my garden or when I'm cuddled in a corner with an old book or a record playing, a cat purring on my lap.

So, you got a new camera for a recent holiday but you're not quite sure how to take good photos in between our sessions? There are soooo many buttons and modes! Months after my son was born, my husband got me a brand new camera and I wanted to take the best photos possible but I had no idea what I was doing at the time.

Not simply because he has an extra chromosome or the words "Down syndrome" on his medical charts. It's because my son forces other people to see him as any other typical kid -- with his awesome baseball hitting or football throwing or his love of gross bugs and underwear-themed TV shows -- you see, he really is just like anyone else.

I know, I know, I know -- you hate the way you look or you want to wait until you lose just 10 more pounds. But, my friend. I always wanted to be a storyteller. I was a Journalism major in college and a newspaper reporter for years out of college. I told stories that made me cry; I shared stories that enraged me; I wrote articles that inspired and celebrated.
