The Emerald Spirit is a 65' Bonner, powered by Twin 600 h.p. Lugger engines which allow it to cruise about 19 knots. We have two 2.5 ton air conditioners/heaters, a 900 lb. a day ice machine, a 3,000 pound fish box and live-well. There is a refrigerator, microwave and large Green Egg.

February - As the cold winds bow out of the north the water temperature drops throughout the winter months. Most of the fish that swim on top migrate to warmer waters except for the Yellowfin Tuna. These fish stay around upwelling of warmer waters of the deep and tend to stay around Oil Rigs and Big Deep rock formations.

You may ride along for half of your walk-on trip price. Walk-on trips are varied in price and length. We have grandparents who go to watch grandchildren, wives wanting to accompany husbands, etc. We are fully equipped and ready for children. All Children under ten should wear a life vest at all times.

Three day fishing trips aren't the normal overnight trip if all you want is just Tuna Fish and maybe some Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi). With only six anglers on board we headed out on a Thursday afternoon for a three night, three day trip. It's not normal to leave that early in the afternoon and then run all night, but when you have three days to do it in, you just don't need to get in a hurry.

They average around 20-25 pounds when you get to keep one at 30 inches long, the minimum size limit. You are allowed to keep one per person per day with none allowed for the Captain or Crew. We catch some of these fish in the 75-80 lb. Most of the time you can get them in 100-150 feet of water, however I have seen them in 50 feet and especially in the late season as deep as 400 feet.
