Services
Low Vision Exams
Our comprehensive 60-90 minute evaluations assess type and severity of vision loss, focusing on tasks patients want to improve. We analyze central/peripheral vision impact and recommend customized aids. This specialized exam helps patients regain functionality through tailored optical solutions and training.
Bioptic Telescopic Glasses
These mounted telescope systems enable distance vision for activities like driving and watching TV. Hands-free design allows mobility while maintaining visual clarity. We provide training to ensure comfortable adaptation for daily use in stationary or dynamic environments.
E-Scoop Lenses
Custom-designed glasses combining five optical characteristics to improve contrast and reduce glare. Specifically engineered for early-stage vision loss patients, these lenses enhance peripheral vision functionality for reading, computer use, and facial recognition tasks.
Electronic Magnifiers
We offer handheld and desktop video magnifiers that enlarge text/images on screens. These devices include adjustable contrast/color settings for extended reading and computer use. Training ensures patients maximize functionality for daily tasks like medication management and correspondence.
Visual Field Training
Specialized programs teach patients to utilize remaining peripheral vision effectively. This training benefits those with tunnel vision from retinitis pigmentosa or stroke-related field loss, improving navigation safety and spatial awareness through targeted exercises.

What is low vision care?
Low vision care focuses on maximizing remaining vision through specialized optical devices and rehabilitation strategies. Unlike standard eye care, it emphasizes functional improvement rather than disease treatment.

These devices don't cure underlying conditions but enhance usable vision. Most patients experience significant functional improvements for specific tasks like reading or facial recognition.
What conditions do you treat?
We specialize in macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinitis pigmentosa, and stroke-related vision loss. Our solutions address both inherited and age-related visual impairments.
Do you offer device training?
Yes, we provide comprehensive training to ensure comfortable adaptation to all prescribed devices, including telescopic systems and electronic magnifiers.
Are services covered by insurance?
Coverage varies by provider. While some devices may not be covered, we provide documentation to support reimbursement claims for our specialized evaluations and treatments.

My mother has had macular degeneration for many years. I took her to see Dr Schoenberg hoping that he would be able to help her with his low vision aides. I have to say not only was he able to greatly improve her vision which I know will improve her quality of life, he did it in such a genuine and caring manner. The entire experience was positive and I so do appreciate what he was able to do for my mother. Thank You again Dr Schoenberg
