Post-Operative Physical Therapy
Report
Surgery is often the reason for referral to physical therapy, and although post-operative protocols are ultimately determined by the surgeon it is imperative that your physical therapist understands your specific surgery, tissues and structures involved and how that will impact rehabilitation and subsequent surgical outcomes.
Injury / Pain Rehabilitation
Report
Physical Therapy for non-operative conditions has been shown to be just as effective and less expensive for many orthopedic conditions when compared to surgery or other commonly used invasive treatments. Physical therapy aims at getting to the very root of the problem; by addressing contributing factors, correcting muscle imbalances, and restoring movement/mobility - patients often find resolution of their pain and dysfunction.
Sports Physical Therapy
Report
Sports physical therapy differs from general orthopedic physical therapy in that it requires your physical therapist to have an acute and comprehensive understanding in the various functional requirements of your sport and how it relates to movement function/dysfunction and subsequent injury. This is so extensive, in fact, that it is one of eight specialty areas the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties offers.
